Focus Security AS · Sandefjord, Norway · Since 2000
People and technology
It started in a basement in Sandefjord on 4 September 2000. Today Focus Security is one of Norway's strongest professional environments in high security — headquartered by Sandefjord Airport Torp, with platforms used by more than 35,000 people every single day.
Who we are
A small house. A large professional environment.
We are ten full-time specialists — deliberately few. Focus Security is a project house, not an installation company: every system is designed from the requirements specification and the risk picture, and every employee masters the whole chain from sensor and transmission to platform and integration. Around us stands a nationwide network of skilled partners who deliver projects together with us — so capacity never stands in the way of quality.
What sets us apart is the integrations. For 26 years we have made open platforms play together in ways the manufacturers themselves had not imagined — access cards that open locker doors, radar that steers PTZ cameras, patient alarms that unlock the right door for the right carer.
- Deep integration expertise — our craft is making systems talk to each other
- Openness, collaboration and innovation — the philosophy that has carried the company since the basement
- Member of StartBANK and credit-rated through Experian
What we stand for
Four principles. Since 2000.
Uncompromising security
A security system is not judged on the demonstration, but on the night it really matters. That is why we choose components for how they behave under pressure: autonomous operation during network outages, redundancy where the consequences are greatest, and documented certifications in every link. Where others ask "what does it cost", we ask "what does it withstand".
The customer owns the system
Every platform we deliver is open and free of vendor lock-in. The database is yours, the configuration is yours, and you choose who performs service and maintenance — today and in ten years. That forces us to be at our best every single day, because you can walk away at any time. That is how we want it.
A project house, not a box mover
We do not sell boxes — we design solutions. Every project starts with the requirements: risk assessment, regulations and the everyday life of the people who will use the building. Then we assemble sensor, transmission, platform and integration into one answer to that exact specification. Freely programmable controllers and in-house development mean the answer never has to be squeezed into a standard box.
People and technology
Our slogan is also our yardstick. The world's best technology is worthless if it makes everyday life harder for the people in the building — the carer on night duty, the operator in the control room, the tradesperson coming through the gate at six in the morning. We secure areas, buildings, assets and people without it coming at the expense of those who use the building every day.
Frequently asked questions
The honest answer.
Are you expensive?
No — but we do not compete on the lowest bid, we compete on total cost of ownership. Because our platforms are open, you get real competition on service and maintenance throughout the system's lifetime. A system that lasts 20 years without vendor lock-in is almost always cheaper than a "bargain" you are tied to.
Are we tied to you?
No. The customer owns the system — database, configuration and documentation. You choose who operates and maintains the installation, today and in ten years. We believe that is the only honest way to deliver security.
Do you take on small projects?
Yes. We deliver with the same quality and the same specialists at any scale — from a single door with browser-based access control to installations with tens of thousands of users. Many of our projects are perfectly ordinary systems for municipalities and businesses, and with our partner network we always have the capacity to deliver. Besides, good small projects have a tendency to grow.
Do you only work with high security?
No — but we bring the high-security expertise everywhere. The school, the town hall and the office building get the same open platforms, the same documentation and the same professional environment as the oil and gas facilities. The difference is the dimensioning, not the quality.
What certifications do the components carry?
It depends on the platform — the portfolio spans from EN 50131 Grade 4 on intrusion to ATEX/IECEx on cameras and NPSA-approved video analytics. See the vendor pages (in Norwegian) for documented certifications and approvals per manufacturer.
